PAIA Access-to-Information Guide IN EFFECT

Private-body PAIA manual preparation and access requests

1. Publication obligation

A South African private body may be required to prepare, maintain and make a PAIA manual available under section 51. A complete manual should identify the legal entity, information officer, record categories, access procedures, other legislation, data subjects, transfers and security overview.

This page is a preparation checklist and is not the entity's completed PAIA manual. A final approved manual should be attached before launch if applicable.

2. Requesting records

Requests for records or access to personal information should use the published Information Officer contact and applicable statutory forms/process. The organisation will verify identity, lawful entitlement, exemptions and applicable fees before disclosure.

3. Official resources

See South Africa's Information Regulator eServices PAIA manual portal at https://eservices.inforegulator.org.za/paiamanuals/ and statutory guidance for private bodies.
